KS1 Word Bags and Reading

Every Monday, children take home a word or sound list to play a game with and share at home.  These are shared with an adult at school the following week. These words/sounds follow the current advice regarding development of synthetic phonics and link into the Letters and Sounds programme that is used to teach phonics in Early Years and KS1.

Children have access to a vast range of reading material at school and take home a book (fiction and non-fiction) every day. Tree Tops uses the Oxford Reading programme as the key scheme.  This is supplemented with a variety of other home reading schemes.
