At Tree Tops Primary Academy, science learning takes place inside and outdoors, giving pupils exciting and hands-on opportunities to explore and investigate materials, life and physical processes. Lessons are planned in line with the Kent Scheme of work, closely linked to the National Curriculum and draw on cross – curricular learning opportunities from the International Primary Curriculum.
Our aim is to spark curiosity and wonder about the world around them and encourage pupils to challenge stereotypes linked to science and see themselves as true scientists of the future. High expectations are set for all children to achieve their full potential, including opportunities to link with other local schools and Academies.
Children will be taught not only the knowledge and understanding of scientific concepts, but also investigative skills such as planning, observing, fair testing and evaluating; skills which they can use to apply to other areas of their learning.
