PSHE enables our pupils to become healthy, independent and responsible members of society. We develop the ‘whole-child’ intellectually, morally, socially and spiritually. It aims to help them understand how they are developing personally and socially, and tackles many of the moral, social and cultural issues that are part of growing up. We provide our pupils with opportunities for them to learn about rights and responsibilities and appreciate what it means to be a member of a diverse society. Our pupils are encouraged to develop their sense of self-worth by playing a positive role in contributing to school life and the wider community. 

Using our whole-school approach to PSHE and Well-Being, we believe that using first-hand experiences in these areas, will lead to excellence across the curriculum and in later life.

The delivered curriculum reflects the needs of our pupils and considers their specific needs. We use our PSHE and Well-Being programme to equip pupils with confidence and understanding or how to take risks and use their knowledge and necessary skills to make safe and informed choices.

The curriculum is split into three core themes of: Relationships, Health & Wellbeing & Living in the Wider World. As the children move through the school, they will cover these different themes and they will be built upon.


Learning is adapted and tailored to meet the needs of all pupils, including those with SEND, through adaptive teaching; including guidance from the EEF (Education Endowment foundation). Educators incorporate explicit instruction, cognitive and metacognitive strategies, scaffolding, flexible grouping and use of technology into daily classroom practice to ensure access for all.
